Stephen Omondi’s mother died when he was only 10 years old. His father was a drunkard and often left him alone to fend for himself. Stephen left his father’s house and walked to Kisumu where he lived on the streets for two years—trying to survive through the cold, hunger, and bullies. He came to Agape in June of 2005 with a bad sore on his leg than needed medical attention.

Stephen is an energetic and playful boy who loves to play soccer. When asked to pick his favorite food, Stephen narrowed it down to rice, vegetables, beans, soda, and sukumaweke, a staple food in Kenya comparable to spinache or collared greens. Stephen’s favorite subject is math.
